Tohoku boasts a diverse range of environments, from mountainous wetlands to marshes connected to lakes, ponds, and rice paddies.
In the Hachimantai, Gassan, and Oze areas, you can enjoy mountain wetlands dotted with ponds and landscapes created by lingering snow and alpine plants. On the other hand, vast wetlands remain in areas such as Butsunuma, Izunuma/Uchinuma, and Kabukurinuma, which are visited by many migratory birds.
This page introduces wetlands throughout the Tohoku region, presented with maps and a list organized by prefecture.
