中村湿原に行ってみよう!

This is a marshland located in Mamurogawa Town in northern Yamagata Prefecture.

A variety of creatures live here, including the red-tailed dragonfly.

Touring the Marshes

Early May

It's a bleak landscape, but you can see the Asian skunk cabbage. The Japanese quince is still young.

The water level is high and the boardwalk is submerged.

It becomes a lush landscape.

You can observe a variety of creatures, including the rare red-tailed dragonfly.

Equipment, stamina, and skills

There are no difficult spots.
It takes about 15 minutes to explore just the first marsh, but about an hour to explore the whole area.
The first one has a boardwalk that allows you to walk inside.
The second marsh is on the periphery.

About 40 minutes from Shinjo IC.

Just before Nakamura Marsh, the road turns into an unpaved one.
The road is steep and narrow, making it difficult for some vehicles to enter.

You can also enter from the farm road.

There is space for about two cars in the parking lot.

There are no toilets.
