I went to Ryugahara Marsh in Akita Prefecture.

▼The Haraigawa trailhead on Mt. Chokai is the entrance to Ryugahara Marsh.

Park the car and start.

The weather is great!

There's also a nice toilet.

▼There is a sign that looks like it has been well-expensively put together.

▼There seemed to be an observation deck, so we headed over and suddenly discovered a marsh-like place!

We have high expectations!

▼ Lily of the valley

▼The view from the path to the observation deck is also beautiful.

▼A red dragonfly hunting scene.

It catches what appears to be a cabbage white butterfly in the air and eats it.

▼And then there's the dragonfly, preying on the red dragonfly.

It was great to see the food chain.

▼A flower that I feel like I see often but I don't know the name of.

▼A marsh-like place.

Not only the main marsh, but small marshes like this are scattered all over the mountain.

It's a very good environment for animals to live in.

▼You can also see the city from the observation deck.

There are a lot of wind turbines.

▼To Ryugahara Marsh!

▼It is a spacious marshland located between the mountains.

▼A signboard placed casually.

It's easy to miss when the grass is growing.

▼A Japanese newt (Arakan newt) was floating around.

▼Even though it's midsummer, there is plenty of water.

It's a nice marsh!

▼Iwaichou?

▼A cattail-like plant.

Name unknown.

▼ Iris arvensis

▼We have reached the hiking trail to Mt. Chokai.

▼Even though it was late July, the skunk cabbage was in bloom.

This is something you can only find in alpine wetlands!
