At Okususobana Nature Park in early summer, you can enjoy the sounds of forest tree frogs. Many eggs were observed around the pond. Why not enjoy the forest tree frog season to the fullest? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_1lBC1xca0 Forest tree frog eggs laid on a tree.
I visited Fuyushi Marsh in Nikaho City, Akita Prefecture. When I visited in July 2021, the undergrowth was thick and horseflies were flying around, making it impossible to explore. This time, I was able to see a completely different landscape. Exploration Heading to Fuyushi Marsh. Apparently, there's also a place called "warabi no sato" (a village of bracken). It would be great to make tempura out of it. Apparently, they had recently been burning the bracken. The marsh...
I visited Shishigahana Marsh in Nikaho City, Akita Prefecture. I visited Shishigahana Marsh in July 2021 and remember being amazed by the tremendous amount of water flowing there, even in the middle of summer. This time, the snow had just melted, so I was looking forward to seeing what kind of scenery I would see. Exploring: The parking lot was relatively empty. I started my walk. Young Asian skunk cabbage flowers were blooming along the side of the road...
I visited the Katakinuma Marsh in Yurihonjo, Akita Prefecture. I'd previously visited in late July, but this was my first time visiting in early spring. The parking lot was quite spacious. I wonder when the main season is. Here's a glimpse of the Katakinuma Marsh. Despite its low-lying location, the ponds are visible, creating a wonderful atmosphere. If you shift your gaze slightly, you'll see a deep pond that seems to surround the marsh.
I visited Bense Marsh in Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture, for the first time. Bense Marsh is known for its colonies of day lilies. While the day lilies weren't in bloom during my visit, the low-growing plants allowed me to fully enjoy the marsh's atmosphere. The parking lot is quite large, and I can imagine it gets crowded during peak season. There are also restrooms. Although it has deteriorated over time...
CNN featured Mt. Hiuchi, Takaya Pond, and Tengu Garden, which were selected as one of Japan's 31 most beautiful places. While photos show the stunning autumn foliage, we decided to explore the midsummer scenery and enjoy a walk through the marshlands of Tengu Garden. On the first day, we got off at Myoko-Kogen Station. We took a direct bus to the Sasaga Mine trailhead. We stayed overnight at Kurosawaike Hut, a hut nestled in the wooded mountain trail. On the second day, we visited Chausu...
I visited Obayachi in Akita Prefecture, but couldn't enter due to the snowfall. Exploration: The entire area was covered in snow. As you'd expect from a Tohoku mountain. Some areas were starting to melt, revealing a glimpse of a marshland. Rest area? Buried in snow. Summary: The snow was so thick it was difficult to enter. The flowering season will probably come after it warms up. If you really want to go in at this time...
I had spotted what appeared to be a marshland on Google Maps near Oirase, so I decided to stop by. The parking lot at Tsuta Onsen has separate parking areas for guests and tourists. I was grateful to be able to use it. The parking lot was very spacious, clean, and well-maintained. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Traveling around Tohoku at this time of year, you'll see cherry blossoms in all different states...
I visited Kurosawa Marsh in Tokushima Prefecture, Shikoku. While I was tempted to pronounce Kurosawa as "Kurosawa," it's actually pronounced "Kurozou." It's the only Shikoku marsh designated as one of Japan's 500 Important Wetlands by the Ministry of the Environment, highlighting its importance. The parking lot was very spacious. Perhaps because it was off-season, there were only a few cars parked there. There were also some very clean restrooms...
