Mount Tateshina is a volcano located at the northernmost tip of the Yatsugatake mountain range.

The altitude is 2,531 m.

There are few mountains in the surrounding area, so you can enjoy a vast view.

It's almost a straight climb from the trailhead to the summit.

Equipment

It is a good idea to bring lightweight crampons, but as you climb the path becomes rough and rocky, so crampons with 12 prongs may actually be dangerous.

You'll be using your hands a lot, so waterproof gloves are a must.

Physical strength and skills

It is physically demanding as it is a straight climb, rocky area and steep slope.

It doesn't require any special technical skills, but the descent is a bit scary as it is rocky and the slope is steep.

Other ways to get there

If you are not confident in your physical strength, it is better to use the seventh station trailhead.

This will be a course time of about 3 hours.

You can also get there from the Kita-Yatsugatake Ropeway.

This route takes time, so only those confident in their leg strength should give it a try.
