Mammals and birds you can encounter in spring

Traveling through the spring wetlands, you'll encounter a variety of animals.
Here, we introduce some of the creatures you might encounter while exploring wetlands in early spring.

Japanese macaques can be seen year-round, but in early spring, you can see macaques with their offspring.
They were picking and eating various plants growing in the surrounding area.

Japanese deer

They can be seen throughout the year, but they are easier to spot in early spring when the undergrowth is short.

It is a representative wild bird of spring, and since it nests in human settlements, there are many opportunities to see it.
They can also be seen at roadside rest areas and similar locations.
The parents fly around busily, feeding their chicks.

Japanese Rock Ptarmigan

It inhabits rugged mountainous regions.
In early spring, they are more active due to the breeding season and are easier to spot.
If you're lucky, you might see a couple walking side by side.
It seems they are most active in the early morning and evening.
