
The Omachi City Mountain Museum in Omachi City, Nagano Prefecture, is a museum where you can learn about "why this mountain is here," "what kind of creatures live in the mountains," and "how humans have interacted with the mountains."

Facility Introduction
The first floor exhibit focuses on the relationship between people and mountains.
There are many exhibits related to the equipment used by past climbers and mountain worship, so climbers will find it even more enjoyable.




On the second floor, there are exhibits of mountain creatures and geological exhibits of rocks, topography, etc.
The animal exhibits are very interesting, with stuffed animals displayed in an almost lifelike manner.


There is a rich display of ptarmigan, a common sight in the mountainous areas of the region.


There are many exhibits related to rocks and fossils from around Omachi and Hakuba Village.
This is an exhibition that you should definitely see, especially in this area located directly above the Fossa Magna.


The attached garden houses ptarmigans and Japanese serows, which you can observe closely.
