The roads in Hokkaido have good visibility and just driving is a pleasure.
From there we went to Mogakudai to view Mt. Tokachi.

Viewed from here, Mt. Tokachi is a rugged and impressive mountain.

There was also a visitor center (emergency shelter).
The exhibits at the visitor's center were mainly about the geological system.

It also contained information about flowers and hiking trails.
It might be a good idea to stop by before climbing Mt. Tokachi.
Unfortunately, there were no Tokachi-dake related goods or information available.

I had completely forgotten, but Hokkaido is home to an extremely rare animal called the Hokkaido pika.
In fact, the rocky areas of Mt. Tokachi are apparently a habitat for the Ezo pika.

Map of Bogakudai.
The area is so wide that you can enjoy the walking trails even if you don't hike.
I'm also interested in the sightseeing trails, but I don't have time this time so I won't go.

I didn't go mountain climbing this time, but I wandered around the area to see if there were any plants or animals.
There are few plants because it is mostly rocky.

I took some photos of Mt. Tokachi.

We also explored the walking trail behind the visitor's center.

It was a great place to view Mt. Tokachi!
Next time I come, I'll try to look for pikas.
