八島ヶ原湿原に行ってみよう!

This is a marshland located in Suwa City, Nagano Prefecture.

It is close to Suwa City and very accessible, so you will often see many people there.

It's an ideal place for first-time visitors to a marshland, as you can easily enjoy the boardwalk.

Equipment, stamina, and skills

▼The boardwalk is fully paved and it is easy to walk everywhere else.

One loop takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Most of the road is flat so it's not that difficult.

Because of the high altitude, it can be relatively cool, but it can get very hot in midsummer, so be sure to bring plenty of drinks.

Also, it can get chilly in early spring, so cold weather gear is essential.

▼In late December, the snow starts to pile up and the temperature drops below freezing.

The wind is strong, so the temperature feels quite cold.

You will need equipment suited to winter mountain climbing.

It is about 35 minutes from Suwa IC.

Another attraction is its easy access.

The parking lot can accommodate about 100 cars, but it gets quite crowded during the peak season.

If you want to enjoy the quiet of the marshes, it's best to arrive just before or after sunrise.
