2021.5.1 玉の木原水芭蕉群生地-シーズンから外れた訪問-

Located in Miyagi Prefecture, this wetland is known as a habitat for Asian skunk cabbage.

I visited during Golden Week, but it seemed too late.

We were greeted by large grown skunk cabbages.

▼The space is larger than I had imagined.

It's amazing that a place like this has been preserved.

▼We pass through the cedar forest and head deeper into it.

▼The fully grown skunk cabbage plants are lined up in a small space.

▼Although a little late, the little Asian skunk cabbages are also starting to sprout.

▼Let's go further in.

▼The skunk cabbages around here look young.

The growth rate may vary depending on conditions such as sunlight and running water.

It looks like it was recently broken.

Couldn't it withstand the snow?

▼We've reached the back.

▼This area was quite bleak.

summary

If you want to visit during the best season, I recommend early to mid-April.

I think that if it gets a little warmer, we will be able to see a variety of different creatures.

If I have the chance, I would like to visit again.
