This is an exquisite experience that allows you to enjoy both Mt. Tanzawa, one of the 100 famous mountains, and Mt. Hirugatake, the highest peak in Kanagawa, all at once.
This is a perfect route to test your legs, with a standard time of over 10 hours.
The view of the ridgeline from Mt. Tanzawa to Mt. Hirugatake is spectacular, and it's worth the effort from the morning.
Climbing record
I went on a traverse of Mt. Tanzawa (1,567m) and Mt. Hirugatake (1,673m)!
The repeated ups and downs on the course were hard on the feet.
There are some easy chain sections and rocky sections, making it perfect for practice.
The road from Mt. Tanzawa to Mt. Hirugatake follows a ridgeline and offers great views, so I highly recommend it!

▼We arrived around 6:20 and the parking lot was nearly full.It was.
That was close. I'm glad I made it in just in time.
If you head towards Tennoji Ridge, the slope is relatively steep from the start.

As we continued walking through the forest, the views gradually improved.

▼The scree and chain sections continue.
It's not that difficult, so it's perfect for practice.

▼ Miyama Mountain Lodge (Miyama Sanso site), toilet available (100 yen)
There is no access to Hirugatake from here, so it's a good idea to go there if necessary.

▼Arrived at the top of Mt. Tanzawa just before 10 o'clock.
Take a break and refuel.
After this, I feel a little despaired that Hirugatake is still remaining.

▼Let's head to Hirugatake!

▼I just walk along the ridge.
The view is good and the breeze is pleasant!
It would have been nice if the weather had been sunny.

▼Even though it's April, there is still snow remaining.

▼Finally arrived!
It is the highest peak in Tanzawa, but also the highest peak in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Hirugatake Mountain Lodge (Hirugatake Mountain Lodge Site) where you can eat curry and other dishes.
Of course, there are toilets as well.

▼The best lunch in Kanagawa.
Cup noodles taste really good when eaten at the top of a mountain.
I can't believe it's the same 200 yen.

▼To explore new possibilities for instant noodles, we tried using it as a coffee cup.
It makes for an interesting picture, but the downside is that it gives off a seafood smell (laughs).

▼On the way back, we chose the Shiomizu forest road at the fork in the Tennoji Ridge.
This route is about 5km of paved road after the mountain path ends. It might be fun if you have a skateboard.
It must be hard to walk in the hot sun in midsummer.

▼There were still cherry blossoms left.
For some reason, seeing cherry blossoms makes me happy.

Mt. Tanzawa and Mt. Hirugatake were beautiful mountains.
