Visiting the marshes in autumn

The lively season is coming to an end, and the harsh winter is fast approaching.
The temperature of the marsh drops suddenly and there are fewer signs of flora and fauna.
Meanwhile, the marshes are colored with beautiful autumn leaves.

Autumn marshland

From late September, the activity of the plants and animals gradually decreases, and the atmosphere becomes quiet.
In October, the leaves begin to change color starting from the higher up in the mountains.
The best time to see the autumn leaves in the marshland is from the end of October to the beginning of November.

What equipment do I need?

This is a time when temperatures can change dramatically depending on the weather, so cold weather gear is essential.
It's cold in the early mornings and at night.

A marshland for beginners

Kannon Swamp

Kannon Numa is recommended for autumn.
The marsh is usually deserted, but it becomes bustling at this time of year.
There are many days with relatively good weather, making it a great place to enjoy beautiful autumn leaves.
The roads are well maintained and safe.

Yanohara Marsh

This is my personal favorite marsh.
The entire marshland turns red and yellow.
It would be great if you could aim for the best timing!
Another good thing about this area is that you can get close to the marsh by car.
The downside is that the weather is often not so good and the ground is often slippery.
It's best to check the weather before visiting.

One of the attractions of wetlands is the seasonal fun they offer.
For first-time visitors, we recommend visiting during the flower season from April to June.
October and November are also good months for exploring and you can enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage.
